Project Cornerstone is made up of two types of school-wide programs called ABC Readers and Los Dichos.

ABC Readers

ABC Readers is an English-speaking parent volunteer program that trains parent volunteers monthly to go into Trace classrooms and present a selection of books to provide lessons, discussions, and activities that teach character-building skills (integrity, tolerance, respect, honesty, empathy, etc.) and how to recognize and deal with bullying behavior.

Volunteers read a picture book and lead a classroom activity once per month in their child’s class. The goal of the ABC Reader program is to teach students social-emotional skills that can help them deal with peer pressure, bullying behavior, building and keeping friendships, making healthy decisions, solving problems, and more. The time commitment is about 2.5-3 hours per month. And, it’s fun to get to know the students in your child’s class in a meaningful way!

Los Dichos

Los Dichos is a Spanish-speaking parent program that trains parent volunteers monthly to go into Trace classrooms and present a selection of books to lead activities and discussions about topics including tolerance, family pride, peaceful conflict resolution and other important values.
